Assembly
* Newspapers, to cover the floor;
* 55 six-hole bricks;
* Ceramic vase, with water and aquatic plants, in the west of the spiral;
* Organic matter from household waste (high nitrogen content);
* Two 100-liter bags with straw, sawdust or rice husk (high carbon composition);
* Good luminosity and regular humidity;
* Medicinal, aromatic plants and vegetables to form an abundance system in the spiral.
Questions and answers about the composter, by Cilon Estivalet, President of the ASSECAN Deliberative Council:
- Does the clockwise or counterclockwise difference make the spiral?
The direction of the spiral depends on the energy of the place, which can be checked with a pendulum. I have good results with triple coils - trikeles. - Is it okay for the composter to take rain?
As the spiral is at the level above the ground, it is by nature well drained, so it can be subject to rain; - Should I stir or turn the content from time to time?
It is not necessary to turn the compound on the spiral. Just make sure that the organic waste deposits on the straw start from the center out of the spiral. If you think you have too much nitrogen, add more straw or any more carbon-rich chopped material. Do not forget that the compound is the management of the C / N ratio, the humidity that arrives from the west, oxygen and microorganisms. - I read about putting yeast and fermentation accelerators in the compost. That's true?
Putting yeast is good. I prepare my yeasts with herbs like Comfrey, or other broad leaves that are spontaneously born in the garden, which are mixed with water, without chlorine, between one full moon and another. Then I dilute it in three portions and apply it on the compost, in the soil or directly on the plants. When mixing ashes in this solution, be careful not to include coal, as it attacks microorganisms. - Gave an ant in the composter. Should I fight them?
If there were ants, congratulations. They are our best partners for creating forests and correcting the acidity of the environments. In general, they appear in the final phase of the compound, to transform humic acid into humus - a 10/1 C / N ratio. The first phase of the compound is fermentation where microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) act, aerobically burning cellulose and attacking lignin. In the second phase, earthworms and worms transform what is left into humic acid. - Does the form of the composer make a difference?
Does. In an angular shape (Square), the compound requires handling so as not to become a long process (six months). In circular shapes like the spiral, the compound is completed less time (three months. The vital flow is more dynamic when the corners are "rounded" and there is no stagnant energy.
