At this point, I would like to talk about the concept of soul mates, which is probably familiar to you. The idea of soul mates has a profound attraction for you. However, it is potentially very dangerous, because it can be interpreted in such a way as to reinforce the pain of birth and emotional dependency in each of you, instead of solving them.
This happens when you conceive of the concept of soul mates in such a way that there is another person who adapts perfectly to you and makes you “complete”. This idea conceives the soul mate as its "other half". So you assume that the unity and security, which you so desire, will be found in someone else who suits you perfectly.
According to this “immature” notion of soul mates, souls are considered to be two halves that together form a unity. Generally, the two halves are male and female, respectively. So this idea suggests, not only that you are incomplete in yourself, but that you are also essentially "male" or "female".
You can probably see that this notion of soul mates is neither healthy nor healing from a spiritual point of view. It makes you dependent on something outside of you. It denies your divine origin, which presupposes that you are EVERYTHING, male and female, and that you are whole and complete in themselves. It creates all kinds of illusions that take you very far from Home. And by "Home", I mean your own being, the divinity of your Self. No soul is half as much as anyone else. Soul mates do exist, and they are literally what that word suggests: they are twins. They are souls with the same “tone of feeling” or vibration, or it can be said, with the same moment of birth, as is the case with biological twins. The particular moment of birth, that unique moment in time and space, contributes to a unique charge of tonality of feeling within the souls that are born. They do not depend on each other in any way.
They are neither male nor female. But they are certainly attuned to each other, like related spirits. What is the reason for creating soul mates? Why do they exist? Ah, you generally think that the raison d'être of something is the learning process and its effects. But this is not the case with soul mates. The reason for the existence of soul mates does not learn anything. The purpose is simply joy and creativity. Soul mates have no role in duality. You will find your soul mates when you are transcending duality, when you and again identify with the God within you, who is whole and indivisible and who is capable of taking any shape or appearance. Soul mates are reunited on their journey home.
Let's go back to the beginning of the journey a little. The moment you abandon the state of oneness and become individuals, you enter duality. Suddenly there is darkness and light, big and small, sick and healthy, etc. Reality is associated. You no longer have a reference point for what you really are. In the beginning, you identified yourself as "a part of the whole". Now, you are an isolated part of the whole. But, without your conscious knowledge, you are accompanied by someone who is just like you, who looks like you just as nothing else could. You occupied the "same place" in the mantle of unity, so close to each other, that you didn't know there were two until you were born. What connects them is something beyond duality, something that predates the history of duality. This is difficult to express properly in words, because it challenges your current definition of identity, according to which you are either one or two and cannot be both at the same time.
So you two have embarked on a journey, a long journey, through many experiences. Both experienced the extremes of duality, to gradually discover that their essence is not found in duality, but outside it, in something that underlies it. As soon as you become deeply aware of this implicit unity, your journey back begins. Little by little, you become less attached to external things, like power, fame, money or prestige. More and more, you understand that the key is not what you experience, but how you experience it. You create your own happiness or unhappiness through your state of consciousness. You discover the power of your own consciousness.
After going through all the ups and downs of duality, there is a time when you find your soul mate. In the energy and appearance of your soul mate, you recognize a very deep part of yourself, your essence beyond duality, and through that same recognition, you begin to understand yourself better and become aware of who you really are. Your twin is a point of reference for you, which takes you out of the limiting beliefs that you have been fed and that you have taken on in this life and other past lives.
You are free to see this reflection of yourself in your twin. This is like a reminder and has nothing to do with emotional dependence. The meeting between the two of you helps each of you to become a stronger and more self-conscious individual, expressing your creativity and love on Earth. This encounter speeds up their journey back, as it helps them to rise to a higher level of unity, while fully conserving and expressing their self, their unique individuality. Ultimately, we are all One. We are sustained by an energy that is universal and is in all of us. But at the same time, there is individuality in all of us. The soul mate is the link between individuality and unity. It is like a stepping stone to unity.
If you connect with your soulmates, consciously and materially, you bring about the creation of something new: a third energy is generated from the combination of your actions. This energy always helps to increase the awareness of the unit, on a larger scale than if it were just the two. As soul mates are on their way back home, they feel inspired to anchor the energies of love and unity on Earth, and they do so in a way that is in keeping with their unique talents and abilities. In this way, soul mates love to build steps between “being one” and “being One”. There is a deep connection between soul mates, but this does not alter the fact that they are complete units in themselves. Their union generates love and joy and their meeting increases creativity and self-realization. They support each other without falling into the trap of emotional dependency or habit. Love between soul mates is not for one to complete the other, but to create something new: instead of the two becoming one, the two must become three.
